Inflammatory Bowel Disorder
Last week, my second child a 13 year old boy was diagnosed with IBD. He has showed severe cases of irregular bowel movements to the extend he will need to to go to the restroom during mealtime. It has been ongoing for several months. My fault for taking it lightly as I thought he has been eating wrongly, until one day he complained for having a bad stomach pain and asking me to bring him to the doctor. So, I did. I had a shock of my life getting to know from the doctor that he is diagnosed with IBD, from all the symptoms he explained. No wonder he look malnourished despite the vitamins he has been taking. To make things harder, there’s no medication except for a change of diet.
I feel sad for him. Wish I could have treated him sooner, then it won’t be that bad. He is such a fine young boy. Obedient, always soft and gentle, never argue or complain if I ask him to do extra work at the house. Oh dear, how I wish I could turn back time.
He has a history of animal protein allergy with he was an infant. But through a very strict diet for 4 years, he was finally able to enjoy milk and many other food. Now, again another cycle of restrictive diet.
Well, I’ve gone through it before with all 3 kids when they were young, now I’m sure it won’t be as stressful and difficult. Let’s take this positively 💪🏽. A change of diet is a good course after all. Everyone should be getting better meals and this is an opportunity for me to consistently preparing food for the kids again.
I am still searching and learning about IBD diet and hopefully i could figure it out really soon. If anyone out there has any ideas or suggestions, please share it with me. My mind is still everywhere probably worrying about his growth, but I’m sure I’ll get to it soon.
